9th Mules vs.
Idalou (9-10-2015)
The Freshman Mules traveled
to Idalou Thursday to match wits with the Wildcats. The Mules fell behind early
but the defense kicked in and shut down a second scoring threat by the
Wildcats.
After that it was almost all
Mules for the rest of the game. Jorge Albarran scored first for the Mules on a
four-yard run. The point after failed. Brady Martinez scored on a 31-yard pass
and run from Luke Del Toro. Ryan Rodriguez got the call to rush the three yards
needed for the two-point conversion.
Rodriguez added his own TD
with a one-yard blast but was not finished as he later galloped 50 yards for
the Mules’ final touchdown. Izaiah Hurtado punched in the final two-point
conversion for a 28-16 Mule win.
Rodriguez was the leading
Mule rusher with seven carries for 78 yards and two TDs. Yoel Reyes got the
call three time for 35 yards and Hurtado ran three times for 34 yards.
Del Toro was 10 of 15 passing
for 133 yards, one TD and no interceptions. Martinez had two catches for 59
yards and a score. Hurtado caught three passes for 35 yards and Rodriguez
snagged three passes for 35 yards.
The leading tacklers on defense
were Martinez and Keaton Myers. Myers forced two fumbles, Martinez forced a
fumble and Mathew DeLeon intercepted a pass.
The Mules next outing will be
in Perryton against the Rangers. The game has a 4:00 PM start time.
