B-Team Mules vs. Littlefield
(11-5-15)
The B-Team Mules wrapped up
their undefeated season Thursday evening with an exciting 16-12 win over the
Littlefield Wildcats. The Mules went 5-0-1 on the season. The Mules did not run
an offensive play in the first half of play and trailed 12-8 at the
intermission.
The B-Team games utilize two
20-minute halves with a running clock rather than dividing the game in to
quarters.
The Mules kicked off and
Littlefield consumed 10 minutes of the first half before scoring a touchdown.
The two-point conversion failed and the Wildcats kicked off.
Beto Mendoza scooped up the
ball for the Mules and returned 67 yards for a touchdown to tie the game at
6-6. Ozzy Nunez blasted up the middle for the two-point conversion that put the
Mules in front 8-6.
Littlefield ate up the
balance of the half and scored as time expired. The two-point conversion failed
and the Wildcats led 12-8 at the half.
The Wildcat’s second half
kickoff was picked up at the Mule 33 by Aaron Venzor. He turned the corner,
scooted down field and was finally escorted out of bounds at the Littlefield
25-yard line. Nunez kept the football on first down and powered ahead for 11
yards.
Nunez got the nod from the
Mule coaches to call his own number again. He kept the football, went wide
around the right end and galloped 14 yards to the end zone. Venzor skirted the
left end for the two-conversion that secured the Mule win.
The Mules will change gears
and start their basketball season.
