7th Lady Mules vs.
Friona (2-8-2016)
The seventh grade Lady Mules
utilized a very stingy defense Monday evening against the Friona Maidens. The
Lady Mules only gave up just four points in the third period and in the game to
down the Maidens 21-4.
The win ended the season with
the Lady Mules’ record at 10-5.
“I have really enjoyed this
team,” said Lady Mule coach Jalissa King. “They work incredibly hard every day
no matter what. It really paid off for them because they have immensely
improved since the beginning of the year.”
Kristian Arzola made a free
throw and added a basket later in the opening quarter. Tatum Hasley and
Daniella Moran dropped in a hoop apiece. The Lady Mule defense shut out the
Maidens to lead 7-0 after one quarter.
Anahi Barrera took over the
scoring for the Lady Mules in the second period with three baskets. The defense
continued to close down the Maidens and led 13-0 at the intermission.
Friona scored two hoops in
the third period but Barrera and Hasley each scored to hold the Maidens down
17-4.
Moran drove the floor for a
basket and Barrera finished with a hoop.
Barrera led the Lady Mules
with 10 points. Moran and Hasley each dropped in four points. Arzola added
three points for the win.
The Lady Mules will now turn
their attention to track and field.
