9th Mules vs.
Seminole (10-18-2017)
The River Road Wildcats
reported they could not field a freshman team to compete with the Mules.
However, during the Muleshoe vs. River Road game, the River Road freshmen team
returned from a game held elsewhere. The freshmen Mules made the long drive to
Seminole to play the Indians.
The Mules struggled to get
untracked against the larger school. The Mules led after one period, 8-6, but
could not put any more points on the board. The Mules fell to the Indians 34-8.
The Mules rushed for 137
yards on 22 carries and caught 15 of 26 passes for 154 yards.
Joe Gutierrez rushed 12 times
for 52 yards and made five receptions for 37 yards. He completed one pass for
15 yards. Riley Kettner carried five times for 43 yards and one touchdown. He
also completed 14 of 25 pass attempts for 139 yards.
Joey Martinez rushed five
times for 42 yards and made five receptions for 67 yards. Kurt Rodriguez made
three catches for 30 yards, and Isaac Vargas had two receptions for 20 yards.
Martinez led the Mule defense
with 10 tackles. Gutierrez recorded seven tackles, and Kettner made six stops.
Rodriguez had five tackles. Victor Velasquez and Benjamin Ramirez made four
tackles each.
