JV L.Mules vs. Littlefield (1-3-14)
The JV Lady Mules trailed the Lady Cats of Littlefield for three and half
quarters but came back in the final three minutes to force an overtime. The Lady
Mules fell just short of a win 32-31.
Sasha Esparza got the Lady Mules started with a pair of hoops and Marissa
Reyes added a pair of free throws. The Lady Mules trailed 8-6 after one
quarter.
The two teams battled to a 10-10 dead heat in the second period. Reyes
poured in a pair of hoops and a free throw in the second period. Zoe Apodaca
dropped in a pair of hoops and Esparza made a free throw. The Lady Mules trailed
18-16 at the half.
Yasmine Sandoval made all six of the Lady Mule points in the third period
but the Lady Mule defense held Littlefield to just five points. The Lady Mules
cut the Lady Cat lead to 23-22.
Esparza got the Lady Mules started with a free throw in the final quarter
and later added a basket. Reyes completed an old-fashion 3-point play after
fighting through a foul for a hoop and then added the charity toss. Emily
Precure chipped in a free throw. Regulation ended in a 29-29 tie.
Reyes made the Lady Mules only hoop in overtime.
Reyes set the Lady Mules in scoring with 12 points. Esparza finished with
eight points and Sandoval made six. Apodaca dropped in four points and Precure
chipped in one point.
The Lady Mules hit the road Tuesday night to Tulia and return home Friday
to host Abernathy.
