L.Mules vs. Dmt&Ltlfld (12-31&1-3)
The Lady Mules were 1-1 in district just prior to the Christmas break. They
ended 2013 by losing to the Dimmitt Bobbies 42-28 and then to the Littlefield
Lady Cats in their first game of the new year 37-24.
The game on the final day of the year was moved to early afternoon to avoid
late evening New Year’s Eve traffic for the safety of the players, coaches and
fans.
The Lady Mules ended the first period with a one-point lead. DonAnn Rempe
made all five of her points in the first period. She made two free throws after
being fouled shooting. Later in the period she fought through the foul to make
the shot and then completed the old-fashion 3-point play by tacking on the free
throw.
Daniela Diaz finished a fast break and Adrienne Precure made one-of-two
free throws to put the Lady Mules on top 8-7 after one quarter.
The Lady Mules remained constant in the second quarter by again making
eight points. Sadie Sudduth nailed the Lady Mules first 3-pointer of the game.
Precure added a hoop and McKenna Dunham scored on a short jump shot and made a
free throw.
Dimmitt exploded for 12 points in the second period to take a 19-16 lead to
the locker room at the half.
The Lady Mules had a slow third period and Diaz 3-pointer was the highlight
of the period. Sa. Sudduth chipped in a free throw. The Lady Mules only scored
four points in the third quarter.
The Bobbies added three points to their lead and led 26-20 with eight
minutes left to play.
Precure provide six of the Lady Mules final eight points against Dimmitt.
Sydnie Sudduth made a pair of free throws to end the Lady Mule scoring.
The Bobbies best quarter of the night was in the fourth when they dropped
in 16 points.
Precure set the scoring pace for the Lady Mules with nine points. Diaz and
Rempe added five points each and Sa. Sudduth made four. Dunham dropped in three
points and Sy. Sudduth chipped in two.
The Lady Mules only had one double digit period against the Littlefield
Lady Cats. Sa. Sudduth hit a short jump shot a little over a minute into the
game. Dunham added a basket and Precure made a free throw for the Lady Mules
five first period points.
Littlefield more than doubled up on the Lady Mules with 11 first period
points. Caitlyn Carroll led the charge for the Cats with seven of her game high
16 points in the first period.
The Lady Mules did not score until almost the four-minute mark of the
second period when Precure made a basket. She added a second hoop and a free
throw before the half ended. Sa. Sudduth nailed a trey from the wing and Dunham
scored from the baseline. The Lady Mules had scored 10 points in the period and
ended the half trailing 18-15.
Sy. Sudduth made all four of the Lady Mule points in the third period. She
made two free throws and a basket.
The Cats had their largest point out put of night with 12 points to lead
30-19 with eight minutes left to play.
Diaz and Dunham made the only two Lady Mule baskets in the final quarter
and Precure added a free throw.
Precure again led the Lady Mules in scoring with seven points and Dunham
added six points. Sa. Sudduth made all five of her points in the first half and
Sy. Sudduth dropped in four points. Diaz chipped in two points.
The Lady Mules traveled to Tulia to battle the Lady Hornets Tuesday night.
They are back in action at home Friday night when the Abernathy Lady Lopes visit
Muleshoe’s new high school gymnasium.
