Lady Mules vs. Olton (11-15-2016)
The Lady Mules proved to be rude hosts Tuesday evening as they ran away
from their guests, the Olton Fillies. Reagan Reynolds and Sadie Sudduth led a
scoring burst that allowed the Lady Mules to soar in front 14-0 with four and
half minutes gone in the game.
The Lady Mules led 19-10 at the end of the first period and rolled to a
60-29 win.
Sa. Sudduth hit from the right wing to put the Lady Mules in front 30
seconds into the game. Reynolds struck with a hoop from the baseline and half a
minute later finished a fast break. Reynolds finished a second fast break with
Sa. Sudduth delivering her the ball for an 8-0 Lady Mule lead.
Keely Dunham put back her missed shot and Sydnie Sudduth fed Sa. Sudduth
the ball as she broke to the hoop for a hoop with four and half minutes left in
the first period. Yvonne Diaz scored from the baseline to put the Lady Mules on
top 14-0.
The Fillies sank a 3-pointer with just less than three and half minutes
left in the first period. Emily Precure made both free throws after being fouled
in the act of shooting. She added another penalty shot after the Fillies hit a
bucket.
Brittany Mendoza dropped in both free throws after being hacked while she
was shooting.
The Fillies almost kept pace with the Lady Mules in the second period, but
Muleshoe led Olton 30-20 at the intermission.
Lilly Barrera sank a buzzer beater at the end of the third period to hold a
Filly scoring run in check. The Lady Mules outscored the Olton 15-13 for a 45-23
Lady Mule lead with one quarter left to play.
Dunham and Sa. Sudduth provided most of the Lady Mule punch in the final
quarter. Sa. Sudduth made the Lady Mules’ only trey and a pair of hoops for
seven points. Dunham made three baskets for six points.
Sadie Sudduth finished the night with a game-high 20 points. Keely Dunham
and Reagan Reynolds added eight points each. Lilly Barrera and Yvonne Diaz
dropped in six points each. Cassidy Cage made all four of her points in the
second half. Emily Precure and Sydnie Sudduth chipped in three points each.
The Lady Mules traveled to Levelland Monday night to play the `Loboettes
and are on the road to Hale Center November 29 to play the Lady
Owls.
