Lady Mule Softball
vs Dimmitt & Dalhart (2-27- & 3-3-2018)
The Lady Mules won two games this past week.
Tuesday, the Lady Mules blanked the Dimmitt Bobbies 21-0 in four and a half
innings. Clarissa Rejino gave up no hits to the Bobbies, but she walked three
batters and hit one with a pitch. The Lady Mules backed her up with two double
plays.
Saturday morning the Lady Mules met the Dalhart Golden
Wolves at Canyon Randall Lady Raider Field. Dalhart scored one run in each of
the first three innings, but the Lady Mules took the lead in the bottom of the
third inning on a home run by Valeri Toscano and two additional runs in the
bottom of the third inning.
The Lady Mules never looked back and ended the game
with a walk-off grand slam home run by
Jillian Rojas in the bottom of the sixth inning. The Lady Mules won the game
16-4.
Rejino walked the first Bobbie batter she faced. The
second batter lined the first pitch straight to Melody Moran at first base. She
snagged the line drive and stepped on first base to complete the unassisted
double play. Rejino fanned the third Bobbie of the inning on three pitches.
Rejino again walked the first batter of the second
inning. The second batter sent a ground ball to Emili Mora at shortstop. She
made the soft toss to Brianna Barron at second base for the first out. Barron
fired a strike to Moran at first to complete the classic 6-4-3 double play.
Madison Hasley led off for the Lady Mules with a
base hit to right field. She stole second and went to third on a throwing
error. Mora scored Hasley with a single up the middle. Mora stole second base. Dellany Martinez singled to centerfield and
Mora went to third base and scored on a throwing. The Lady Mules led 2-0 after
one inning.
The Lady Mules lacked lack one batter in batting
around twice in the second inning. The Lady Mules put 13 runs on the board in
the second inning to lead 15-0.
The Lady Mules added a run in the third inning and
five more in the bottom of the fourth inning.
Hasley led the Lady Mules with three hits in four
plate appearances and scored four runs. Rojas had three hits and scored three
runs. Martinez had two hits and scored three runs.
Against Dalhart, Rejino allowed four runs on nine
hits, struck out four and walked none.
The Lady Mules set up the big win by scoring five
runs in the fifth inning. Barron slammed a single up the middle and was forced out on a fielder’s choice with a slow
dribbler to second by Hasley. Mora singled to right field, and Hasley went to third base. Mora advanced to
second on the first pitch to Rejino.
Rejino sent a ground ball up the third baseline to
score both Hasley and Mora. The Dalhart shortstop bobbled Rojas ground ball for
an error and Rejino went to third on her late throw to first. Moran doubled to
left field to score Rojas. Mia Reyna sent Moran home with a single to right
field. The Lady Mules led 12-4 going into the sixth inning.
Hasley singled to right field in the bottom of the
sixth inning. Mora singled to put Lady Mule runners at first and second bases.
Rejino drew a walk to set the table for Rojas. Rojas sent the second pitch she
saw over the left field fence for a grand slam to end the game.
Mora led the Lady Mules as she went four-for-four at
the plate and scored three runs. Rojas was three-for-four at the plate and
scored four runs and drove in five runs. Valerie Toscano homered in the second
inning to start the Lady Mule scoring. She was three-for-four at the plate and
scored one run.
The Lady Mules traveled to Bushland on Tuesday to
put their two-game win streak on the line against the Lady Falcons. The River
Road Lady Cats will visit the Lady Mules Friday at 5:00 PM.
