Mule Track @ District (4-17-2015)
The Mules earned the bronze trophy at the District 2-3A
Track Meet Friday with 72 points. Shallowater and Dimmitt finished ahead of the
Mules. Friona, Littlefield and Tulia finished behind the Mules.
Competitors that finished in the top four places qualified
to compete in the Area Meet scheduled to be held on the Canyon Randal High
School track Friday, April 24.
Cesar Olvera got the Mules started by winning back-to-back
bronze medals in the shot put and discus. He had a heave of forty feet and one
inch in the shot put and a throw of 116-8 in the discus.
Evan Paez was the first Mule to qualify for the Area Meet in
the track events. He placed fourth in the 3200-meter run with a time of ten
minutes 58.37 seconds. Jesse Leal cleared a height of 9-6 in the pole vault for
fourth place. Danny Campos finished sixth in the high jump with a leap of 5-6.
The 4x100-meter relay team of Aaryn Ross, Francisco Elizalde,
Jesse Easily and Josh Lopez finished fourth with a time of 45.78 8. Cristian
Paez ran a time of 2:07.38 for the bronze medal in the 800-meter run. Mario
Flores placed fifth in the same race with a 2:10.76.

Villa ran a time of 1:34.34 won the silver medal in the 4x200-meter relay. E.
Paez took the bronze medal in the 1600-meter run with a time of 4:54.20. Flores
finished sixth in the 1600-meter run with a 5:07.78.
The 4x400-meter relay team of Dagen
Dunham, Campos, Easily and Villa wrapped up the day for the Mules with a bronze
medal time of 3:32.90.
