Mules vs. Littlefield Baseball (3-25-2016)
High winds seems to follow
the Mules and keep their bats in the refrigerator. The Mules went in order
Friday in Littlefield. The Wildcats scored nine runs in the first inning and
finished off the Mules by scoring the tenth run in the bottom of the fifth
inning. The Cats took the day 10-0.
The Mules only had two base
runners in the game and both came on walks. The first was thrown out attempting
to steal second base by the catcher and the other was picked off at first by
the pitcher. The Mules only sent 15 batters to the plate in five innings.
Littlefield collected six
hits, one hit batsman, two walks and two errors to score nine runs in the
bottom of the first inning.
Jason Florez charged a ground
ball in the bottom of the second inning and fired a strike to Blake Parker at
first base. Parker threw all the way back across the diamond to Danny Campos
for the tag on the runner attempting to steal third base for a double play for
out number two. A fly ball to leftfield was tracked down by Mikey Lozano for
the third out.
Bryce Mauricio tracked down a
pair of fly balls in centerfield for the first two Littlefield outs in the
third inning. Campos then stepped toward second base to catch a pop fly for the
third out.
Mauricio made a running catch
in center for the first out in the bottom of the fourth inning. Campos snagged
a line drive at third for out number two and JoJo Rejino scooped up a ground
ball at second and tossed to Parker at first for the third out.
Florez grabbed a ground ball
near second base and threw to Parker for the first out of the bottom of the
fifth inning. Two walks and a double gave the Cats the winning run.
The Mules hosted the Dimmitt
Bobcats Tuesday afternoon and will travel to Friona to play the Chieftains
Saturday April 2 at noon.
