JV Mule Track @ Abernathy (3-28-14)
The JV Mules won the team silver in the Antelope Relays in Abernathy Friday
with a score of 154 points. New Deal finished in front of the Mules while
Abernathy, Post, Floydada, and Tulia trailed the Mules in the six-team
meet.
Blayne Shipman and Javy Perez got the Mules started by winning the bronze
medal and fourth place respectively in the high jump. Shipman cleared five feet
six inches and Perez had a height of 5-00.00.
Rigo Rivas finished fifth in the shot put with a heave of 35-06.00. Jason
Florez was sixth in the long jump with a leap of 16-04.25. Jesse Easily had a
silver medal distance of 37-11.00 in the triple jump. Matthew Flores placed
sixth in the same event with a total distance of 35-11.75.
Mario Flores won the Mules first gold medal in the running events with a
time of 11 minutes 56.02 second in the 3200-meter run. The 4x100-meter relay
team of Florez, Easily, Jorge Martinez and Tim Perez had a silver medal time of
47.16.
Aaryn Ross won the gold medal in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:18.84.
Shipman ran a silver medal time of 17.83 in the 110-meter hurdles and Flores
finished fourth with a 19.66.
Martinez won the bronze medal in the 100-meter dash with a 12.22. The
4x200-meter relay team of Martinez, Easily, Florez and T. Perez had a bronze
medal time of 1:39.60. JJ Gandara ran a time of 58.96 in the 400-meter dash for
the silver medal. J. Perez placed fourth in the same event with a time of
1:00.26.
Flores claimed the silver medal in the 300-meter hurdles with a 48.60. Ross
was back on top of the winner’s stand with a time of 24.29 in the 200-meter
dash. T. Perez joined Ross on the winner’s stand for the bronze medal in the
same event with a time of 24.71.
Flores climbed atop the stand after winning the gold medal in the
1600-meter run with a time of 5:23.73. The 4x400-meter relay team of Gandara,
Ross, Danny Campos and Easily ran a silver medal time of 3:50.15.
The Mules final tune-up meet will be the Cub Relays in Brownfield Friday
afternoon. The Mules will travel to Dimmitt April 11 for the District Meet.
