Lady Mule Track @ District (4-11-14)
The Lady Mules won the team silver at the
District 2-2A track meet Friday at Dimmitt with 147 points. Littlefield won the
meet and Tulia, Friona, Abernathy, Olton and Dimmit finished in that order
behind the Lady Mules.
All three Lady Mule relay teams qualified for
the Area Meet to be held in Panhandle April 18. The top four places in District
1-2A and District 2-2A will meet in the Area competition. The top four places at
the Area Meet will qualify for the Region I Meet to be held in Odessa’s Ratliff
Stadium April 25 and 26.
Adrienne Precure won her first medal of the
meet in the high jump with a silver medal leap of four foot feet 10 inches.
Marilyn Melendez placed fourth in the same event with a height of
4-04.00.
Precure earned a gold medal in the pole vault
by clearing the bar six inches higher than she had gone all season. She vaulted
a height of 9-06.00. Miranda Acevedo won the bronze medal in the first race of
the day, the 3200-meter run. She finished in a time of 13 minutes and 23.43
seconds. Jasmine Garza was just steps behind in fourth with a time of
13:38.33.
The 4x100-meter relay team of Katelyn Gable,
Aimee Rosas, Ruby Andrade and Jazmin Arellano placed fourth with a time of
53.65. Mireya Ruvalcaba ran a gold medal time of 2:36.59 in the 800-meter run
and Keidi Salas finished fifth with a 2:41.97.
Precure won her second silver medal of the
meet in the 100-meter hurdles with a 17.33 and Daniela Diaz earned the bronze
medal in the same race with a 17.52. Gable, Diaz, Rosas and Jasmine Arellano
teamed up for the bronze medal in the 4x200-meter relay. The ran a time of
1:53.59.
Ruvalcaba won her second gold medal of the
day in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:07.00 and Andrade won the bronze
medal in the same event with a 1:07.51. Ahztiri Elizalde finished fifth with a
1:08.39.
Precure won her third silver medal of the day
in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 48.88. Her sister Emily Precure placed
sixth in the same race with a 56.67. Gable finished the 200-meter dash in a
bronze medal time of 28.18 and Arellano placed sixth with a 29.00.
Garza and Acevedo won the silver and bronze
medals in the 1600-meter run with times of 6:06.58 and 6:08.04 respectively.
Salas finished sixth in the same race with a 6:17.80. The 4x400-meter relay team
of Rosas, Andrade, Ruvalcaba and A. Precure won the Lady Mules final gold medal
of the day with a time of 4:21.85.
