JV Mules Track @ District (4-11-14)
A key member of the JV Mules track team was moved up to the
varsity for the district track meet. But the Mules won the team bronze with a
total of 141 points. Littlefield and Abernathy finished ahead of the Mules and
Tulia, Dimmitt, Friona and Olton followed in that order.
Jesse Leal started the Mules by winning the gold medal in
the pole vault with a height of eight feet six inches. Antonio Vasquez and Javy
Perez placed fourth and sixth in the high jump with identical leaps of 5-02.00.
Vasquez also placed fourth in the long jump with a leap of 16-05.00.
Danny Campos threw the discus 89-09 for fifth place. Jesse
Easily had a silver medal distance of 37-00.50 in the triple jump and Matthew
Flores placed sixth with a distance of 34-11.50.
The 4x100-meter relay team of Trey Villa, Easily, Jorge
Martinez and Wesley Clarkson earned the bronze medal with a time of 47.36. Evan
Paez and Issac Acosta won the silver and bronze medals in the 800-meter run
with times of 2:20.44 and 2:21.17 respectively.
Flores improved in the 110-meter hurdles with a bronze medal
time of 19.64 and Dustin Stearmer finished fifth with a 21.42. Martinez placed
fourth in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.90.
The 4x200 team topped the winner’s stand with a time of
1:38.57. Martinez, Easily, Jason Florez and Villa composed the relay team.
JJ Gandara won the gold medal in the 400-meter dash with a
time of 57.13 and Perez placed fourth with a 57.99. Flores ran a 46.52 in the
300-meter hurdles for the bronze medal. Campos also earned a bronze medal with
a 24.92 in the 200-meter dash.
Paez ran a silver medal time of 5:30.14 in the 1600-meter
run.
The 4x400-meter relay team of Gandara, Easily, Campos and
Villa ran a gold medal time of 3:41.35.
The Mules ended their track season with the District Meet
and will now move on to off season workouts or other spring sports.
