Cross-Country District Meet (10-21-2014)
Injuries had plagued the Lady Mule varsity
cross-country team all season and the District 2-3A Meet on Lubbock’s Mae
Simmons Park Course was no different. But the Lady Mules ran the two-mile
course with Jazmine Garza placing eighth individually with a time of 13 minutes
and 38 seconds.
Other Lady Mules competing were Mireya Ruvulcaba,
Yvonne Diaz, Dani Diaz, Aimee Rosas, Cassidy Cage and Noemi Herrera.
Evan Paez led the Mules as well as all the other
competitors around the three-mile course to win the individual gold medal with
a time of 17:09. Michael Lozano, Christian Paez and Noah Del Toro also competed
for the Mules.
“We could not have placed an order for a better
running day,” said cross-country coach Edie Niblett. “It was an absolutely
perfect day. Our athletes went to compete and they represented Muleshoe very
well.”
Jazmine Garza and Evan Paez will both compete October
31 in the Region I Cross-Country Meet. The Meet will also be held on the Mae
Simmons Park Course. The Class 3A girls will run at 11:00 AM and the boys will
compete at 11:30 AM.
The JV Lady Mules won the District 2-3A Meet with five
of the seven Lady Mules placing in the top ten. Ruby Regalado, Jazmin Arellano,
Brianna Barron, Lilli Barrera, Blanca Ramirez, Brianna Velasquez and Ricarda
Elizalde are the members of the JV Lady Mules.
Malachi Rodriguez won the JV Boys individual gold
medal and Josh Mata finished fifth in the meet.
