Cross-Country @ Sundown
(10-4-2014)
Injuries and illness has hit
the Muleshoe High School cross-country teams hard and only a few runners made
the trip to Sundown for the Roughneck Cross-Country Meet Saturday.
More than a touch of fall was
in the air Saturday morning when the Mules and Lady Mules lined up to run in
Sundown. Evan Paez brought home the only medal by placing in the top 15 runners.
Times and places were not available at press time.
“We were few in numbers
today,” said Muleshoe cross-country coach Edie Niblett. “But our kids ran well
despite the chilly morning with a winter breeze. Our Varsity and J.V. girls
have several injuries and some have the "bug" that is going around
school.”
“I appreciate these athletes
for getting up this morning and making the trip to Sundown. Hopefully next week
in Abernathy we'll be healthy and will have 4 complete teams.”
Christian Paez and Noah Del
Toro were the other two Mules joining E. Paez on the almost three-mile course.
Cassidy Cage, Blanca Ramirez
and Jazmine Garza represented the Lady Mules racing on the two-mile course.
Ruby Regalado and Lillie Barrera ran as JV Lady Mules. Josh Mata, Malachi
Rodriguez and Jose Lopez represented the JV Mules.
The teams will travel to
Abernathy for the Antelope Cross-Country Meet Saturday October 11.
