8th Lady Mules vs.
Dimmitt (1-5-2015)
The eighth grade Lady Mules
traveled to Dimmitt and defeated the Bobbies 30-9. The Lady Mules ran out to an
11-1 lead in the first period and added six more before the half to lead
Dimmitt 17-3.
The Lady Mule defense held
Dimmitt to two points in the third period and four in the final frame. The Lady
Mules scored five in the third quarter and seven in the final period.
“This was really not bad for
having been out for two weeks without practice,” said Lady Mule coach Jalissa
King. “Every girl scored! Kyndal Miller had a great game with eight defensive
rebounds, two steals and two assists. Kinsey Parker, Maddison Price and Keely
Dunham added four rebounds.”
The eighth grade B team
defeated Dimmitt 11-6. The Lady Mules held Dimmitt scoreless in the first half
and led 3-0 at the intermission. The Lady Mules put in six points while Dimmitt
scored four in the third period and the two teams scored two points each in the
final frame.
Abriana Mendoza led the Lady
Mules with nine points and Nikole Quezada added two points.
“We had five eighth graders
and five seventh graders who have not really practiced together or even run the
same plays,” continued Coach King. “I drew up a new play for them that none had
seen and they ran it textbook. It was great to see all of these girls working
together and trying to help each other understand what to do.”
The Lady Mules played in the
Levelland Loboette Tournament January 8 and 10 before they hosted the
Littlefield Lady Cats Monday.
