7th Mules vs. Dimmitt (1-23-2017)
The seventh-grade Mules led Dimmitt for three and half quarters. Turnovers in the final three minutes of the game turned the tide in favor of the Bobcats. Dimmitt outscored the Mules 12-4 in the final period to win the game 31-24.
Jeremiah Barron scored first one minute into the game. Daniel Avila chipped in two free throws for a 4-0 Mule lead. Chupi Fabela finished the first quarter with a pair of hoops to give the Mules an 8-6 lead.
The Mules came out firing in the second quarter. Avila started the Mules off with a fast-break layup. Barron sank a 3-pointer from the wing and later made a steal and drove to the hoop. The Mule defense had held Dimmitt to just eight points in the first quarter. The Mules led 15-8 at the half.
Dimmitt did some catching up in the third period. Avila scored all of the Mules’ points. He made a hoop almost two minutes into the third period. He later made a trey from the right wing. The Mules led 20-19 with one quarter left to play.
Zach Hasley scored a hoop 20 seconds into the final period. Dok Gardner put back an offensive rebound for a 24-19 Mule lead with 5:20 left in the game. The Mules did not score after that.
The Mules traveled to Slaton Monday afternoon to play the Tigers and return home Monday, February 6, for their final home game of the season.
