7th Mules vs. Idalou (1-16-2017)
The seventh-grade Mules rallied in the fourth quarter to tie the Idalou Wildcats at 24-24 to force overtime. Zach Hasley sank a 3-pointer, and Chupi Fabela dropped in a basket during the extra period. But Idalou won the game 35-29.
Jeremiah Barron put back a rebound for the Mules first two points. Evan Lopez made two free throws to put the Mules on top 4-0 with four minutes remaining in the first period. Barron made a steal and drove to the hoop for a 6-2 Mule lead after one quarter.
Barron made all three of the Mules three points in the second quarter. The Mules led 9-6 at the intermission.
Hasley made the Mules only basket in the third quarter while Idalou took a 17-11 lead over the Mules.
But the Mules battled back in the final quarter. Hasley sank the Mules first basket of the period. Barron scored three baskets, a trey, and two free throws before regulation ended with the Mules and Idalou tied.
Barron finished the game with 18 points. Hasley scored seven points. Lopez and Fabela chipped in two points each.
The Mules hosted Dimmitt Monday night and will travel to Slaton to battle the Tigers January 30.
