Mules vs. Littlefield (3-25-2017)
Extra outs in the fourth inning allowed Littlefield to score six runs for an insurmountable lead Saturday afternoon in the Mules District 2-3A opener. Littlefield took the day 12-2 in five innings.
Jason Florez started on the mound for the Mules and struck out two in the first inning and two more in the second to hold Littlefield scoreless.
JoJo Rejino took the count full before drawing a walk to leadoff the bottom of the second inning. He stole second base on the first pitch. Ryan Rodriguez singled to left field to move Rejino to third and stole second base.
A single down the third base line by Ethan Villa scored both Rejino and Rodriguez to put the Mules on top 2-0. The Mules’ bats went silent after that.
Littlefield answered with four runs in the top of the third to take the lead for good. Littlefield scored two runs in the top of the fifth to take a 10-run lead.
The Mules traveled to Shallowater Tuesday to play the Mustangs and stay on the road Saturday to play the Lubbock Roosevelt Eagles.
