7th Mules vs. River Road (10-18-2017)
The seventh-grade Mules hosted the River Road Wildcats Thursday afternoon and were slow to leave the gate. The Mules ran out of time as they began to hit on all cylinders to fall 12-8 to the visitors.
River Road kicked off with just over two minutes remaining in the game. Frankie Reyes returned the kickoff 21 yards to the Mule 48-yard line. Noah Deleon carried for 10 yards. Irvin Torres found F. Reyes open on the right side for five a yard gain.

Torres kept up the middle for four yards. F. Reyes carried wide around the left before cutting upfield for a 33-yard touchdown run with 57 seconds remaining in the game. Torres blasted up the middle for the two-point conversion to cut the Wildcat lead to just four points.

The Wildcats took advantage of an early break. A student-body sweep gained the Wildcats 11 yards. River Road scored on a 22-yard run up the middle to take a 6-0 lead with 1:19 left in the opening quarter. Nic Reyes plugged the whole to stop the two-point conversion.

Neither team could find the end zone, until the final period. The Wildcats drove 55 yards in 11 plays to score on a three-yard run with 2:08 left in the game. Torres blitzed to sack the quarterback and stop the two-point conversion.

The Mules will travel to Friona Thursday to play the Braves.
