Varsity Cross-Country @ Abernathy (10-11-2014)
The Muleshoe Cross-Country teams competed in the Antelope Cross-Country Meet in Abernathy Saturday. Jasmine Garza led the Lady Mules with a 14th place finish out of 101 runners with a time of 14 minutes and 56 seconds.
Evan Paez placed third to lead the Mules around the three mile course in a time of 17:29. Noah Del Toro finished 19th with an 18:57.
Other members running for the varsity Lady Mules were Ricarda Elizalde, Cassidy Cage, Noemi Herrera and Yvonne Diaz. The JV Lady Mules competing were Brianna Barron, Lili Barrera, Danni Diaz, Blanca Ramirez, Ruby Regalado and Jasmine Arellano.
The JV Lady Mule times were not available at press time.
“We ran better this week and are finally getting kids well,” said Muleshoe cross-country coach, Edie Niblett. “But we did have kids missing due to band competition.”
“Garza has stepped into the leadership role for our younger girl runners due to injuries to some of our veteran runners. Evan Paez just keeps on keeping on for the Mules. Del Toro is our constant and is a positive force for our team.”
“We are looking forward to the District 2-3A Meet Monday on Lubbock’s Mae Simmons Park course in Lubbock.
