8th Mules vs.
Seagraves (9-10-2015)
The eighth grade Mules hosted
the Seagraves Eagles Thursday in their home opener. The Mules were determined
to even the score with the Eagles after losing the first meeting between the
two teams.
The Mules dominated the
Eagles with a convincing winning score of 46-0.
Damian Juarez got the Mules
started with a six-yard touchdown run. In the second period Jose Cardenas
forced a fumble that Cristian Bustillos scooped up and returned 76 yards for a
touchdown. Juarez added the two-point conversion.
The Mules kicked off to the
one-yard line and the Wolverines waited for the ball to roll in the end zone
before covering it at the one. Two plays later Cardenas forced a second fumble
that Jimmy Villa recovered.
The Mules failed to convert
from the Wolverine eight and turned the ball over on downs. The Mule defense
held and forced a Wolverine punt. Nathan Rodriguez blocked the punt that Hector
Arras recovered.
Arras scored both the ensuing
touchdown and two-point conversion.
The Mules led 22-0 at the
intermission.
Juarez scored the Mules’
first TD of the second half with a scamper of 68 yards. Juarez later scored
near the end of the third quarter. Kelan Florez kept for the two-point
conversion.
Arras scored the Mules final
touchdown early in the fourth period and tacked on the two-point conversion.
The Mules will host the
Shallowater Mustangs Thursday evening. Kickoff is scheduled for approximately
6:15 PM.
