7th L.Mules vs.
Shallowater (12-14-2015)
The seventh grade Lady Mule A
and B teams traveled to Shallowater Monday night to start the second round of
district play. The Lady Mule A team battled Shallowater to a dead heat in the
first period.
But the Mustangs exploded in
the second period to take control and the Lady Mules could never get back in
the contest. Shallowater won the game 41-17. The first period ended in a 7-7
tie.
Shallowater out scored the
Lady Mules 16-1 in the second period to lead 23-8. The Lady Mules fought back
in the third period to cut the Mustang lead by three points. But the Mustangs
came back strong in the final period.
“Playing good teams always
make us better,” said Lady Mule coach Jalissa King. “It allows us to see where
we need to work. We improved by 11 points from the first game with Shallowater.
We had two major players in foul trouble much of the game.”
“Our defense looked better
today even though we lost. We really did play much better than in our first
meeting.”
Anahi Barrera led the Lady
Mules with 11 points.
The Lady Mule B team also
lost to Shallowater Monday 18-9. The Mustangs led 13-6 at the half and only
score three points in the final period.
Melissa Madero led the Lady
Mules with four points and Aliyah Regalado added three points.
“The first time with played
Shallowater we lost by 31 points,” continued Coach King. “Tonight we only lost
by nine. The numbers never lie and this shows how much improvement these ladies
have made. It feels great to see how much we have grown in a short time.”
The Lady Mules are on
Christmas break but will return to action January 4 when they play host to the
Dimmitt Bobbies.
