7th Mules vs.
Tulia (12-7-2015)
The seventh grade Mules began
to run away from the Tulia Hornets in the second period Monday evening. The
Mules cruised to a 31-11 win in the second half.
Kurt Rodriguez tied the game
at 2-2 with a drive to hoop from the right wing with just over three minutes
left in the opening period. Matthew Fabela hit back-to-back shots from the
elbow to put the Mules in front 6-4 at the end of the opening period.
Rodriguez drove from the
right wing early in the second period to break a 6-6 tie. Mario Guardado was
fouled while shooting and made one free throw. He cleaned up the backside on
the Mules next trip down the floor for an 11-6 Mule lead with 4:00 minutes
remaining in the first half. Joey Martinez drained a shot from the elbow to end
the first half with the Mules leading 13-6.
The Mules out scored the
Hornets 10-1 in the third period and 8-4 in the final period for the win.
Martinez led the Mules with
10 points and Rodriguez finished with eight points. Fabela and Jacob Toscano
added four points each and Guardado made three points. Garrison Bohler chipped
in two points.
