8th Mules vs. Dimmitt

The eighth grade Mules
slipped behind the Dimmitt Bobcats 13-3 in the opening period. The Mules fell
back even more in the next two periods but made up ground in the final quarter.
The Mules lost their season opener to Dimmitt 37-28.
The Bobcats opened the game
with a five-point barrage before Eddie Vasquez scored on an inbounds play.
Dimmitt made the next four baskets before Cristian Bustillos made a free throw.
The Mules trailed 13-3 after one quarter.
Hector Arras answered a
Bobcat bucket with a 10-foot baseline jump shot. Matthew Alarcon drove the lane
for a hoop after Dimmitt had added five points. Eddie Vasquez battled through a
foul for a lay up with eight seconds remaining in the half. He added the free
throw to complete the three-point play. The Mules trailed 25-10 at the
intermission.
Derek Barron and Vasquez
dropped in a hoop each in the third period. Kelan Florez and Jose Cardenas made
a free throw each. Dimmitt had increase its lead to 33-16.
The Mule defense held Dimmitt
to just two hoops in the final period. Alarcon, Arras and Jacob Barron made a
hoop each in the final period. Cardenas scored twice and dropped in a free
throw. Vasquez chipped in a free throw to end the game.
Vasquez set the scoring pace
for the Mules with eight points and Cardenas dropped in six points. Alarcon and
Arras made four points each. D. Barron and J. Barron added a hoop each. Florez
and Bustillos chipped in a free throw apiece.
The Mules went on the road to
Littlefield Monday to play the Wildcats. November 30 the Mules go to Friona to
battle the Braves.
