The Lady Mules entered the Texico Wolverine Tournament with a full head of steam and rattled the Tucumcari Lady Rattlers 54-23. But it was all heart break for the Lady Mules the rest of the tournament as they lost to Farwell in the final period 66-60  and to Navajo Prep in the final two minutes 42-39.

Conley Niblett put back an offensive rebound to break the scoring ice for the Lady Mules against the Rattlers. She later added a pair of free throws. Shanice Rosas made a charity toss and Dani Diaz took a pass from Sadie Sudduth and scored a hoop.

Sa. Sudduth made a 3-pointer from the wing and Sydnie Sudduth scored just prior to the end of the quarter. The Lady Mules led 12-2 at the end of the period.

Sy. Sudduth made a trey from the top of the key to start the second quarter. Yvonne Diaz scored in the paint and added a pair of free throws later in the quarter. Reagan Reynolds hit from six feet and Sasha Esparza added a bucket. Sa. Sudduth made a pair of free throws to extend the Lady Mule lead to 25-5 at the half.

Sy. Sudduth led the Lady Mules with three baskets in the third quarter. The Lady Mules out scored the Rattlers 29-18 in the second half.

Sy. Sudduth set the scoring pace with 13 points and Niblett finished with eight. Sa. Sudduth dropped in seven points, Reynolds made six and Angie Perez made all five of her points in the final quarter. D. Diaz, Y. Diaz and Esparza finished with four points each. Rosas chipped in three points.

Niblett drove the lane to open the game against Farwell for a basket. Sy Sudduth gave the Lady Mules a 4-0 lead. Farwell cut the lead to 4-3 but D. Diaz hit a trey from the top of the key on an inbound play.

Niblett made a free throw and Perez scored from inside the free throw line to answer a pair of free throws by Farwell. D. Diaz finished a break after a half-court pass by Sy. Sudduth. Farwell trimmed the Lady Mule lead to 12-9 by end of the first quarter.

Farwell cut the Lady Mule lead to 18-17 with five minutes left in the first half. D. Diaz made four free throws and Y. Diaz added two more. Farwell cut the Lady Mule lead to 24-20 but D. Diaz broke down the back door for a hoop to end the half with the Lady Mules leading 26-20.

Farwell hit a trey to start the second half but Niblett answered with a drive down the center of the lane for a basket. The Lady Mules clung to a 42-38 lead going into the final quarter.

Farwell went on a 7-0 run to start the final quarter to take a 45-42 lead over the Lady Mules. Sa. Sudduth went coast-to-coast for a hoop. She took a pass from Rosas the next trip down the floor and sank a trey from the top of the key.

The two teams battled back and forth for the advantage but Farwell took the lead to stay with two and half minutes left to play.

D. Diaz led the Lady Mules with 21 points that included eight-of-10 free throws and three 3-pointers. Niblett made 12 points and Sy. Sudduth finished with 11. Sa. Sudduth added eight points with all coming in the final quarter. Y. Diaz made four points. Rosas and Perez chipped in two points each.

The Lady Mules jumped out to a 15-9 lead in the first period against Navajo Prep with D. Diaz dropping in a pair of free throws to start the Lady Mule scoring. She added a trey, a two-point basket and a free throw for eight points in the first period.

Sa. Sudduth started with a free throw, then made a basket and nailed a trey. Y. Diaz chipped in a free throw.

The two teams made seven points each in the second quarter to end the half with the Lady Mules leading 22-16 at the break.

Navajo Prep chipped two points off the Lady Mule lead in the third period by out scoring the Lady Mules 15-13. The Lady Mules could not hold up to the pressure as Navajo Prep out scored the Lady Mules 11-4.

Sa. Sudduth made four treys and made 17 points in the effort. D. Diaz made eight of her 10 points in the first quarter. Sy. Sudduth made two treys and eight points all in the second half. Esparza scored two points. Y. Diaz and Rosas chipped in one point each.

The Lady Mules hosted the Bovina Fillies in their last non-district game Tuesday night and travel to Shallowater Friday to play a second set of Fillies to open district. The Lady Mules return home the following Tuesday to host the Dimmitt Bobbies.
