Lady Mules vs. Bovina & Shallwater (1-6&9-2015)

The Bovina Fillies proved to be no match for the Lady Mules Tuesday night. The Lady Mules rolled up a total of 24 points in the final period and defeated the Fillies 67-7. All 10 Lady Mules scored in the game.

Friday night the Lady Mules opened the district portion of the season and traveled to the Shallowater to play the preseason favorite Fillies. A defensive battle ensued with the Fillies taking the game 42-27.

Conley Niblett controlled the paint against Bovina and led the Lady Mules with 15 points on the night. Yvonne Diaz dropped in nine points. Sadie Sudduth and Dani Diaz finished with eight points each. Sydnie Sudduth, Angie Perez and Shanice Rosas added seven points apiece. Sasha Esparza, Reagan Reynolds and Emily Precure chipped in two points each.

D. Diaz gave the Lady Mules a 3-0 lead 40 seconds into the game when she sank a trey from the wing. D. Diaz finished a fast break with a pass from Sa. Sudduth before the Fillies scored.

Sa. Sudduth finished a break and Yvonne Diaz took a quick pass from Niblett in the paint for a hoop. Shallowater out scored the Lady Mules 13-9 in the opening period.

Perez sank a trey from the left wing to start the second quarter. Sa. Sudduth drove the left side of the lane and made a right-handed hoop. Niblett popped out to the top of key and the Lady Mules got her the ball.

Niblett launched a trey over the head of a charging defender. Later Niblett was fouled shooting and made both free throws. The Lady Mules had trimmed one from the Filly lead to trail 24-21 at the break.

The Lady Mules kept the defensive pressure on the Fillies in the second half but failed to score in the third period. But the Lady Mules were still in the game and trailed 30-21 with eight minutes left to play.

Sa. Sudduth finally broke the scoring ice for the Lady Mules in the second half near the four minute mark of the final quarter. She added a second hoop before the game ended. Sy. Sudduth and D. Diaz chipped in a free throw apiece.

Sa. Sudduth and D. Diaz paced the Lady Mules with eight points each. Niblett made all five of her points in the second period. Perez sank a trey in the second period for her three points. Y. Diaz added two points and Sy. Sudduth chipped in one point.

Shallowater, Tulia and Littlefield are now 1-0 in district while Muleshoe, Friona and Dimmitt are 0-1.

The Lady Mules hosted the Dimmitt Bobbies Tuesday and will be joined by the Mules Friday when they travel to Littlefield to battle the Lady Cats and Wildcats.
