7th Mules vs. Childress (10-22-2015)

The seventh grade Mules continue to prove to be unbeatable. They rolled to a 48-0 win over the Childress Bobcats Thursday to extend their winning steak to 7-0 on the season and 3-0 in district.

The Mules got their hands on the ball first and in six plays the Mules had their first touchdown on the board. Joe Gutierrez gave the Mules a 6-0 lead with three minutes left in the first period with a 13-yard scamper.

Mario Guardado kicked off for the Mules and the Childress returnee fumbled and Kurt Rodriguez recovered the ball at the Bobcat 23. Gutierrez scored on a 23-yard run to extend the Mule lead to 12-0 with 2:44 still on the clock in the first period.

Guardado blocked the Bobcats punt on Childress next series. The Mules claimed the ball at the Childress 38. Jose Martinez scooted wide left and ran over a tackler for a 16-yard gain. Gutierrez scored after rolling out to pass and a path to the end zone opened for him to race the final 15 yards for the Mules third TD as the second period began.

Guardado kicked off to the Childress goal line. Rodriguez and Guardado raced down field to make the tackle at the Bobcat nine-yard line.

The Cats were unable to get their offense untracked and was forced to punt after three downs. The punt rolled dead at the Childress 15.

Gutierrez tossed to Guardado at the Bobcat seven-yard line. Guardado pulled a would-be tackler across the goal line to give the Mules a 24-0 lead with 4:34 remaining in the first half.

Following the Mule kickoff it was three-and-out for Childress. Gutierrez fielded the punt on the Mule 48 and returned 52 yards for a 30-0 Mule lead with 2:44 left in the half.

Gutierrez scored one more TD before the half with a 41-yard run to extend the Mule lead to 36-0 at the intermission.

Martinez intercepted a Bobcat pass at the Mule 20 and zipped 80 yards for a defensive touchdown and a 42-0 Mule lead with 8:44 left in the third period.

Garrison Bohler scored the Mules final TD with a four-yard blast.

The Mules will travel to Dimmitt Thursday and return home to wrap up the season when they host the Littlefield Wildcats November 5.
