Mules and Lady Mules C-C Team @ Dist 2-3A Meet (10-19-2015)

The Lady Mules won the team gold medal at the District 2-3A Cross-Country Meet Monday on Lubbock’s Mae Simmons Park course. The Lady Mules will return to Lubbock October 26 to compete in the Region I Cross-Country Meet.

Lilana Martinez won the individual gold medal by finishing the two-mile course in a time of 13 minutes and seven seconds. Alyssa Wheeler was not far behind and earned the seventh place medal with a time of 13:54.00. Dellany Martinez took the tenth place medal with a time of 14:06.00. 

Other girls running for the Lady Mules were Mireya Ruvulcaba, Reina Regalado, Jasmine Garza, and Ricarda Elizalde.

“We have 1 senior, 1 junior, 1 sophomore and 4 freshmen on the team and that is exciting for several years of Lady Mule success to come,” said MHS cross-country coach Edie Niblett.

Evan Paez paced the Mules cross-country team with a silver medal time of 17:59.00 to earn him a trip back to Lubbock for the Regional Meet. He is scheduled to run at 9:30 AM, October 26, on the Mae Simmons Park Course.

Other Mules running were Edyy Elizalde, Jacob Kettner, Ethan Gonzales, Jose Nava, Kevin Gonzales, and Eduardo Pantoja.

“The Mules are also a young team and I look forward to great things from them in the future,” continued Coach Niblett. “Our boys team did not advance to regional but I am extremely proud of their effort.”

Both JV Lady Mules and Mules won district.

Citlalli Vargas led the JV Lady Mules with a bronze medal time of 15:21.30. Kyndal Miller earned the fifth place medal with a time of 15:54.00 and Blanca Ramirez was two steps behind for the sixth place medal with a 15:56.00.

Jennifer Cervantes won the seventh place medal with a time of 16:03.00 and Kayla Torres placed eighth with a 16:13.00. Brianna Barron finished ninth with a time of 16:16.00 and Cassidy Cage placed tenth with a 16:35.00. Also competing for the Lady Mules was Sophie Reyna, Lillie Barrera, and Denisse Ramirez.

Jesse Leal paced the JV Mules on the three-mile course with a time of 20:01.00 for the bronze medal. Malachi Rodriquez won the fifth place medal with a time of 21:49.00 and Mario DeHoyos earned the sixth place medal with a time of 23:19.00.

Luke Leal finished seventh with a 23:54.00 and Izaiah Perez placed eighth. Fabian Valadez finished ninth and Ean Hasley was tenth.
