9th L.Mules vs.
Friona (1-18-2016)
The freshmen Lady Mules
remain undefeated in district play with a record of 7-0. They also have a
remarkable season record of 12-2.
Monday the Lady Mules
traveled to Friona and the Maidens were no match for the Lady Mules. The Lady
Mules came home victorious with a 58-8 win.
“I am so proud of these girls
persistence and focus,” said Lady Mule coach Sheri Veazey. “Games like this
make it hard to stay engaged and not become lackadaisical. They play with such
heart and determination. They have a lot of Mule pride.”
The Lady Mules out scored the
Maidens 12-3 in the first period and 20-2 in the second for a 32-5 lead at the
half. The second half was no better for the Maidens as the Lady pumped in 16
points to only three for Friona in the third quarter and the Lady Mules shut
out the Maidens in the final period while scoring 10 points.
Keely Dunham led the charge
for the Lady Mules with 15 points. Natali Elizalde was just one point behind
with 14 points. Kyndal Miller finished with 10 points.
The Lady Mules were scheduled
to play Tulia Monday night but the Hornets do not have a freshmen team so the
Lady Mules traveled to Nazareth to play the Swiftettes. The Lady Mules will
complete their season at home when they host Littlefield February 1 and Friona
February 8.
