The seventh and eighth grade
Lady Mule and Mule tennis players competed in their first tournament of the
season. They played in the SPCHEA Tennis Tournament held in Levelland Saturday,
April 30.
“Sixteen of our tennis
players were in a band festival this weekend and could not attend the tennis
meet this week,” said Muleshoe tennis coach, Jody Wood. “We played 23 matches
and won four medals.”
Derek Barron and Kelan Florez
played in A-Division Boys Doubles. They defeated Levelland 8-5, lost to Midland
Christian 3-8 and lost a tie-breaker 3-7 after tying a second Midland Christian
team 8-8.
The balance of the matches
were played in the B Division.
Carter McCamish and Jimmy
Villa defeated Shallowater 6-4 but lost to Olton 3-6 for second place. Eli
Macias and Garrison Bohler lost to Brownfield 3-6 and defeated Shallowater 6-4
for third place.
Jill Rojas and Jesus Montiel
lost to KAPA in mixed doubles but came back to defeat Olton 6-4 for
consolation.
Victor Velasquez defeated
Motley County 6-0 in Boys Singles but lost to SPCHEA 3-6 and Loop 4-6.
Jade Fabela defeated
Levelland 6-2 in Girls Singles but lost to Lubbock 4-6. Carina Sianez lost to
Southcrest 0-6 but defeated Sudan 6-4 before losing her final match to another
Sudan player 0-6.
