Attempting to out guess West Texas weather created scheduling changes for the District 2-3A Track Meet. But the Mules left scheduling to others and finished the meet Friday evening as District Runner-Ups with 154.5 points.

Shallowater won the meet with 175 points and Dimmitt finished third with 108.5 points. Tulia placed fourth with 67.5 points, Friona was fifth with 63.5 points and Littlefield finished sixth with 45 points.

The Mules qualified 13 athletes in 12 events for the Area Track Meet that was also held on the Tulia Hornet Track Wednesday April 20 to qualify for the Region I Meet to be held in Abilene April 29 and April 30.

Cesar Olvera reached the top of the winners stand twice in the first two events of the meet. He won the gold medal in both the discus with a winning throw of 138 feet and one inch. His second gold medal was in the shot put with a heave of 43-4. Jaxon Lee earned the bronze medal in the shot put with a toss of 38-08.25.

Evan Paez won the silver medal in the 3200-meter run with a time of ten minutes 59.47 seconds. Jacob Kettner placed fifth in the longest race of the meet with a time of 11:28.40.

Aaryn Ross cleared 6-0 for the gold medal in the high jump and Danny Campos made a leap of 5-08 for the silver medal. Mikey Lozano placed sixth in the event by clearing 5-06.

Joe Waggoner vaulted 11-06 to place fourth in the pole vault and Jesse Leal cleared a height of 10-06 to place sixth. The 4x100-meter relay team of Beto Diaz, Yoel Reyes, Tre Villa and Campos ran a bronze medal time of 44.86.

Lozano finished fifth in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:11.35 and Boo Flores was sixth with a time of 2:12.44. Waggoner finished sixth in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 18.64.

Diaz picked up the bronze medal in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.13. The 4x200-meter relay team of Reyes, Villa, Diaz and Ross ran a gold medal time of 1:33.95. Lozano finished fourth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 56.47.

Waggoner placed sixth in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 45.36.

Ross won his final individual gold medal in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.96 and Campos finished fourth with a time of 23.38. Paez ran a silver medal time of 4:58.01 in the 1600-meter run. Kettner placed fourth in the 1600 with a 5:06.21 and Flores finished fifth with a 5:09.60.

Reyes, Dagen Dunham, Paez and Ross teamed up to win the gold medal in the final race of the day. The Mule team ran a time of 3:36.44.
