7th Lady Mules vs. Littlefield (1-8-2018)

The seventh-grade Lady Mules traveled to Littlefield and defeated the Lady Cats 24-10 Monday afternoon.

“This was our first game back from the Christmas break,” said Lady Mule coach, Jalissa King. “We had 13 turnovers and only shot 20 percent from the blocks. But we managed to overcome this with some impressive non-shooting statistics.”

“Ashton Hardwick pulled down nine rebounds. Kendra Kelley made four assists. Araceli Diaz and Kassie Kelley each had five steals. No matter how rusty our skills happen to be, these girls always hustle.”

The Lady Mules held Littlefield scoreless in the opening period. The Lady Mules pumped in eight points to lead Littlefield 8-0 after one period.

The Lady Cats got untracked in the second quarter with six points, but the Lady Mules dropped in 10 points to lead 18-6 at the half.

Both teams made four points in the third quarter. The Lady Mules again shut down the Littlefield in the final quarter.

Kylie Hernandez and Araceli Diaz paced the Lady Mules with six points each.

The seventh-grade Lady Mule B-team lost 18-10. Alejandra Medina led the Lady Mules with four points.

Littlefield outscored the Lady Mules 8-2 in the first half. Both teams scored eight points each in the second half.

“We had a hard time getting started,” continued Coach King. “It came back to bite us in the end. These girls almost made a comeback but fell a little short.”

The Lady Mules played in the Levelland Tournament over the weekend and will host Idalou Monday afternoon, and remain home January 22 to play the Dimmitt B
