8th Lady Mules vs.
Friona 12-1-2014
The eighth grade Lady Mules
visited Friona Monday. The Maidens all but shut out the Lady Mules in the
second quarter and eked out a 26-25 win over the Lady Mules.
“My girls played their hears
out from the first quarter to the last,” said Lady Mule coach Jalissa King. “We
just could not get our shots to fall.”
The Lady Mules took an 8-7
lead into the second period. That was when the rim really got stingy and the
Maidens open a 14-11 lead by the intermission. The Lady Mules got tied the game
at 19-19 with one period left to play. Friona out scored the Lady Mules 5-4 in
the final period.
Keely Dunham set the Lady
Mule scoring pace with 10 points. Alyssa Wheeler added five points.
The Lady Mules hosted the
Tulia Hornets Monday night and will finish up 2014 December 15 when the
Shallowater Fillies visit to start the second round of district play.
The eight grade B-Team tied
the Friona Maidens Monday 15-15.
“We really worked hard the
entire game. If we would have had an overtime, I believe we would have won the
game,” said Coach King.
Michelle Reyes led the Lady
Mules with five points and Liliana Martinez added four points in the effort.
The Lady Mules hosted the
Tulia Hornets Monday and will start the second round of district at home
against the Shallowater Fillies December 15.
