JV Lady Mules vs. Lubbock
Roosevelt (12-16-2014)
The JV Lady Mules utilized
tough defense to rattle the Lubbock Roosevelt Lady Eagles Tuesday night in
Acuff. The Lady Mules jumped out to a 13-2 first period advantage and sailed to
a 36-20 defeat of the Eagles.
“Our defense was to much for
them to regain their composure in the first quarter,” said Lady Mule coach Edie
Niblett. “We only had four ladies scoring but everybody contributed on defense
to help win the game.”
“This is a very unselfish
team and they pass to the person that needs the ball. Brittney Mendoza and Desi
Gutierrez were hot from the perimeter. Marissa Reyes and Jasmine Garza scored
in the lane. It was a true team effort and a great way to go into the Christmas
Holidays.”
The Lady Mules are now 10-4
on the season.
Both teams scored eight
points in the second period and the Lady Mules led 21-10 at the half. The Lady
Mules continued to out score the Eagles 6-4 in the third period and 9-6 in the
final frame.
Mendoza led the Lady Mules
with 12 points and Gutierrez dropped in 11. Garza added eight points and Reyes
finished with five.
The Lady Mules will return to
action after the Holidays by hosting the Bovina Fillies January 6 and will open
district on the road in Shallowater against more Fillies.
