Lady Mules Vs Tulia and Abernathy 1-7 and 1-10


The Lady Mules traveled to Tulia Tuesday to play the Lady Hornets and returned home Friday to host the Abernathy Lady Lopes. The first quarter in Tulia was very close and the quarter ended with the Lady Mules trailing 15-14.

In the second period the Lady Mules dominated and entered the half leading Tulia 36-29. Tulia returned in the third period and out scored the Lady Mules 27-6 and cruised to a 65-51 win. 

It was a see-saw battle against Abernathy Friday evening with the Lady Mules taking the first quarter 16-8 but Abernathy came back to take the lead 26-22 at the half. The Lady Mules caught up in the third period and tied the game at 35-35 with eight minutes remaining in the game. 

The Lady Mules could not seem to get their shots to fall in the final frame and fell behind early and could never catch up. Abernathy took the win 51-47.

All of the Lady Mules scored against the Lady Hornets. DonAnn Rempe put back a rebound for the Lady Mules first two points of the game. McKenna Dunham and Adrienne Precure both made baskets. 

Sydnie Sudduth made a hoop and also chipped in a free throw. Daniela Diaz made two hoops and Shanice Rosas dropped in a free throw. The Lady Mules trailed 15-14 after one period.

The Lady Mules cranked up the pace in the second quarter. Sadie Sudduth made two baskets and Precure completed an old-fashion 3-point play and finished the period with a hoop. Diaz made a hoop and then hit from behind the arc. Sy. Sudduth, Rempe, Rosas and Dunham made a basket each to lead the Lady Hornets 36-29 at the half. 

The Lady Mules seemed to leave their game in the locker room and Tulia poured in 27 points. Dunham scored the only hoop in the period but Precure and Rempe made two free throws apiece. The Lady Mules trailed 50-42 with one quarter left to play. 

Tulia continued to pour in the points in the final period and out scored the Lady Mules 15-9. Dunham scored in the paint and added a free throw. Diaz drained a trey and chipped in a free throw. Reagan Reynolds was fouled attempting to finish a fast break and made both free throws. 

Diaz set the scoring pace with 13 points. She made two treys, three baskets and one free throw. Precure and Dunham finished with nine points each. Rempe dropped in six points, Sy Sudduth added five points and Sa Sudduth made four points. Rosas scored three points and Reynolds made two free throws. 

All the Lady Mules also scored against the Lady Lopes on Friday. The Lady Mules doubled up on Abernathy in the first period with Precure scoring the first hoop and then completed a 3-point play for five points. Sy Sudduth dropped in a 3-pointer from the wing. 

Dunham scored two hoops and Rosas finished a break for a hoop. Reagan Reynolds put back a rebound and the Lady Mules had out scored Abernathy 18-8.

Abernathy bounced back in the second period and got started with a pair of treys to out pace the Lady Mules 18-6 and lead at the half 26-22. 

Rempe put back a rebound and added a pair of free throws and Dunham made a hoop.

The Lady Mules tied the game at 31-31 after three periods by catching up by pumping in 13 points and holding Abernathy to nine. Diaz scored the first two points of the period and added two more later in the frame. 

Sa Sudduth scored a hoop and later tied the game at 31-31 with a 3-pointer from the wing. Rosas was fouled shooting and made both free throws. 

Abernathy took the lead early in the final period and the Lady Mules could never catch up again. Precure four of seven free throw attempts in the final period and Dunham made four-of-four from the charity line. Rempe and Diaz each added a  hoop. 

Dunham led the Lady Mules with 10 points, Precure added nine points and Rempe dropped in eight points. Diaz finished with six points, Sa Sudduth made five and Rosas had four points. Sy Sudduth made three points and Reynolds chipped in two points. 

The Lady Mules took Tuesday off but return to action Friday night when they host the Friona Squaws to start the second round of district.
