Lady Mules Softball vs Dimmitt (4-3-2015)

The Lady Mules wasted no time taking the first district game of the season from the visiting Dimmitt Bobbies Friday afternoon. The Lady Mules scored eight runs in the bottom of the first inning to leap in front of the Bobbies 8-0.
The Bobbies did not score until the fourth inning when they pushed across four runs. The Lady Mules were up 10-0 to start the fourth inning and had taken some chances on the base paths they would not have taken had the score been different.
Miranda De Bruin gave up four singles to start the fourth inning and the Lady Mules added an error to allow the Bobbies four runs. Adrianna Loya threw out a runner attempting to steal second base and Brittany Mendoza applied the tag for the first out.
De Bruin struck out the next two batters to end the inning with the Lady Mules leading 10-4 going into the bottom of the fourth inning.
The Lady Mules did not score in the bottom of the fourth inning.
The leadoff Bobbie grounded out to Leti Loya at third base. She fielded the ground ball and threw to Gabby Chavez at first base for the first out of the inning. The second batter hit a ground ball to Mireya Ruvalcaba at short stop. She scooped up the ball and tossed to Chavez for the out.
A bouncing ball was fielded by Mendoza at second and she flipped the ball to Chavez for the third out.
An error at first allowed Sasha Esparza to reach first base. De Bruin drew a four-pitch walk. L. Loya lined a triple to the fence in right field to score both Esparza and De Bruin. Crystal Flores walked.
Regan Reynolds bunted to score L. Loya and was thrown out at first base for a sacrifice. Mendoza came to the plate and took two balls and the catcher made a throwing error attempting to throw out Flores stealing second base.
When the ball went into center field Flores rounded second and went to third. The ball got by the centerfielder and Flores coasted home to give the Lady Mules a 10 run lead and end the game.
The Lady Mules took their 1-0 district record on the road to Littlefield Tuesday to face the Lady Cats. The Lady Mules will host the Shallowater Fillies Saturday at noon.
