MHS Tennis @ Muleshoe (3-30-15)

The Muleshoe High School tennis team competed in the Muleshoe Inter-Team/Seeding Tennis Meet Monday, March 15. The meet was held at Muleshoe High School. The Muleshoe squad won 10 medals before the meet ended.

Jesse Leal won the gold medal in boy’s singles by winning matches 8-2, 8-5 and 8-4. Israel Ramirez earned the silver medal in boy’s singles by winning matches 8-0, 8-6 before losing 5-8. He bounced back with a 9-7 win but lost the finals 4-8.

Felipe Guerrero and Edyy Elizalde won the gold medal in boys doubles by winning their matches 6-1 6-1, 6-2 6-3 and 8-4. Braden Bessire and Danny Campos finished with the silver medal in boys doubles with wins of 6-4, 6-4 before losing 2-6 and 3-6. They came back with an 8-1 win before losing in the finals 4-8.

Rachelle Whitworth took the gold in girl’s singles with victories of 8-4 and 8-1. Sophia Sianez had an up-and-down day to earn the silver medal in girl’s singles with a win of 8-6, a loss of 4-8, and then won 9-7 before dropping the finals 1-8.

Gloria Gonzalez and Imelda Salcido teamed up to win the gold medal in girl’s doubles with wins of 8-1, 8-3, 8-3 and 8-6. Kayla Preston and Hallie Myatt took the silver medal in girl’s doubles with a win of 8-4 before losing 3-8. The pair won the next match 8-6 before losing the finals 6-8.

Denisse Ramirez and Aaryn Ross won the gold medals in mixed doubles with victories of 6-1, 6-1, 8-3 and 8-4. Cassidy Cage and Jacob Kettner took the silver medals in mixed doubles with a win of 8-5 before losing 3-8. They won the next match 8-6 before losing the in the finals 4-8.

Others participating in the meet were Dominik Hasley, Jesse Easily, Yavet Elizalde, and Aron Chacon in boys singles. Playing in boy’s singles were the teams of Jason Florez and Donovan Gutierrez as well as JJ Gandara and Tre Villa.

Briana Barron played in girls singles.

Marissa Reyes and Jasmine Garza; Anghy Avilez and Xiomara Regalado; Lily Barrera and Conley Niblett; Jackie Rayas and Rossy Diaz; and Roxanne Mata and Noemi Hererra participated in girl’s doubles.

The mixed doubles teams of Dezzy Gutierrez and Antonio Vasquez as well as Alee Sanchez and Izaiah Perez participated in Mixed Doubles.

The teams will played in the 2-3A District Meet in Plainview Tuesday, April 7. The other teams competing in the meet will be Dimmitt, Friona, Littlefield, Shallowater, and Tulia.
