9th Mules vs. Friona (10-20-2016)

The freshmen Mules stampeded over the Friona Chieftains Thursday night in Friona 48-6. The Mules jumped out to a 20-6 lead after just one quarter. The Mules added 14 points in the second period to lead the Chiefs 34-6.

The Mules outscored Friona 8-0 in the third period and 6-0 in the final frame for the win. 

Matthew Alarcon led the Mule offense by completing 13 of 21 passes for 330 yards, two touchdowns and one two-point conversion. He rushed seven times for 29 yards and a two-point conversion. Alarcon also caught two passes for nine yards and made one tackle. 

Jose Cardenas caught four passes for 168 yards, with three being for touchdowns, and made three tackles. Elio Sanchez made three receptions for 67 yards, one touchdown and one two-point conversion. He also had two tackles. 

Kelan Florez caught one pass for 38 yards, scored two two-point conversions and made two tackles. He completed three of four pass attempts for 41 yards and one touchdown. Jesus Montiel rushed seven times for 68 yards and scored one touchdown and a two-point conversion. He also caught two passes for 31 yards and made two tackles. 

Damian Juarez rushed four times for 14 yards. Cristian Bustillos made two catches for 35 yards and one touchdown, forced a fumble and made seven tackles. Jimmy Villa made one catch for 12 yards. Kynton Haseloff had one reception for 11 yards. 

Eddie Vasquez recorded five tackles and forced a fumble, Cruz Cortez made three tackles and Osvaldo Nunez had two tackles. Steven Atwood, Tyler Moellar, Santiago Reza and Nathan Rodriguez made one tackle each. 

The Mules rushed 18 times for 111 yards, made 16 receptions for 371 yards for a total offense of 482 total yards. 

Littlefield does not have a freshmen team so the Mules will travel to Sundown to play the Roughneck JV at 7:00 PM Thursday evening.
