JV Mules Track @ Olton (2-24-2017)
The JV Mules zipped away from the other four teams in the Olton Winter Relays with 222 points. Friona placed second with 131 points, Ralls took third with 72 points, Bovina placed fourth with 49 points, and Olton was fifth with 42 points.
Brayan Hernandez jumpstarted the Mules by running a silver medal time of 12 minutes 29.64 seconds. Fed Rivas tossed the shot put 36 feet six inches for the gold medal. Rudy Ruiz placed fourth with a heave of 32-03.5. Isaac Carreaga placed fifth with a throw of 32-00.0.
Carreaga sailed the discus 84-08 for the gold medal. Ryan Rodriguez and Ozzy Nunez won the gold and silver medals in the long jump respectively. Rodriguez jumped 16-05 and Nunez leaped 15-07.5. Nick Dominguez placed fourth with a jump of 15-05.5.
Aaron Venzor had a silver medal leap of 5-06 in the high jump. Joe Waggoner made a gold medal vault of 12-10. The Mule 4x100-meter relay team ran a silver medal time of 49.12. Ricky Diaz ran a gold medal time of 2:20.72 in the 800-meter run.
Waggoner won the gold medal in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 18.90. Rodriguez earned the gold medal in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.91. Cristian Bustillos won the bronze medal with a time of 12.80. Matthew DeLeon finished fourth with a time of 12.94.
The Mule 4x200-meter relay team ran a gold medal time of 2:14.88. DeLeon ran a bronze medal time of 1:02.30 in the 400-meter run. Bustillos finished fourth with a time of 1:05.04.
Waggoner took the gold medal in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 45.77. Nunez earned the bronze medal with a time of 49.89. Nick Dominguez won the silver medal in the 200-meter dash with a time of 25.77. Venzor placed four with a time of 26.80.
Diaz ran a gold medal time of 5:44.26 in the 1600-meter run. Hernandez took the bronze medal with a time of 6:11.59. The Mules ran a gold medal time of 4:01.15 in the 4x400-meter relay.
