Lady Mules vs. Bushland (3-7-2017)
The Bushland Lady Falcons played almost flawless defense against the Lady Mules. They handed the Lady Mules a 13-1 defeat.
The Falcons sent seven batters to the plate in the first inning and scored three runs on three singles, a walk and two errors. A double play ended the inning with a pop fly that was fielded by Crystal Flores, and she threw behind the base runner at first base to catch the runner off the base.
Six Lady Mules went to the plate in the bottom of the first inning, but a pair of strikeouts ended the inning with the bases loaded.
Flores pitched a pop fly to the first batter she faced in the top of the second inning, and Mireya Ruvalcaba drifted back on the grass for the catch. Flores struck out the next batter she faced for the second out.
An error, a base hit, and a double scored two runs before the final out.
The Lady Mules went in order in the bottom of the second, and Bushland led the Lady Mules 5-0.
Bushland scored one run in the top of the third and batted around in the fourth inning to tack on six runs.
Ruvalcaba drew her second walk of the game. She was sacrificed to second base by Dellany Martinez. Flores reached on an error by the second baseman, and Ruvalcaba went to third base. Ahtziri Elizalde launched a fly ball to right field that was deep enough for Ruvalcaba to score the Lady Mules only run.
A leadoff homerun in the top of the fifth by Bushland ended all scoring.
The Lady Mules will host Sanford-Fritch Friday at 1:00 PM and will again play host to Borger on Saturday at noon. The Lady Mules will travel to Idalou Tuesday, March 21, at 4:30 PM to open district play.
