Muleshoe Golf @ Denver City (2-22 & 23-2017)
Both the Lady Mules and Mule golf teams competed Wednesday and Thursday in the Denver City Invitational Golf Tournament. The two Mule players took the course first on Wednesday, and the Lady Mule team competed on Thursday.
Wyatt Parker finished the 18-hole tournament in ninth place from a field of 71 golfers using a total of 91 strokes. He chipped in from about 15 yards on hole number five for a birdie.
Ricky Diaz was playing in his first tournament and tied for 39th place with an 18-hole total of 116 shots.
The conditions on Thursday were not ideal for golf, but the Lady Mules persevered. The wind was strong with gusts topping 50 mph several times during the day. The Lady Mules place fourth out of nine teams in the tournament.
Sydnie Sudduth and Emily Precure tied for eleventh place. Both finished the 18 holes with total scores of 103 strokes. Yvonne Diaz placed thirtieth with a score of 128 shots. Leti Loya was one place behind Y. Diaz with a total of 130 strokes. Kiarra Regalado tied for forty-fifth place with a total of 150 shots.
“Our ladies played extremely well in some extreme conditions to open the season,” said Muleshoe golf coach, Steven Butler. “This time of year our golfers must battle both the course as well as the conditions. I was very proud of the way all the kids played.”
