Lady Mule Softball vs. Dimmitt (2-28-2017)
Three ground balls to the infield put the visiting Dimmitt Bobbies in the field in the top of the first
inning. The Lady Mules rolled to a 19-5 win in their home opener.
A ground ball to Brittney Mendoza opened the game. Mendoza scooped up the ball and threw
across the infield to Melody Moran at first for the initial out. A ground ball back to Crystal Flores
resulted in the second out. Moran fielded a groundball between first and second and then she
flipped the ball to Flores covering the bag.
Mireya Ruvalcaba bunted her way on in the bottom of the first inning. Flores walked, and Ahitziri
Elizalde reached on an error by the third baseman. Ruvalcaba scored on the error to put the Lady
Mules on top. Mendoza sacrificed Flores home and Elizalde to third base.
Moran scored Elizalde with a double to right field. The Lady Mules led 3-0 after one inning.
Dimmitt made a run at the Lady Mules in the top of the second and tied the game at 3-3.
The Lady Mules came rolling back, batted around and scored 12 runs to take over the game. The
inning included a three-run inside the park home run by Ruvalcaba and a two-run triple with an
error by Elizalde.
The Lady Mules tacked on four more runs in the bottom of the third to lead Dimmitt 19-3.
Dimmitt’s final two runs came in the top of the inning, but it was not enough to extend the game.
The Lady Mules hosted the Bushland Falcons Tuesday evening and travel to River Road Saturday
afternoon to play the Lady Cats.
