8th Lady Mules vs. Littlefield (11-7-2016)
Both the eighth-grade Lady Mules and Lady Mule B-Team defeated the Littlefield Lady Cats on the road to open basketball season. The Lady Mules jumped out to a 14-9 lead by the end of the first quarter.
The Lady Mules outscored the Lady Cats in every period to take the night 36-19. Anahi Barrera led the Lady Mules with 20 points and Katelyn Kelly dropped in eight points.
“This was a strong first game for us,” said Lady Mule coach, Jalissa King. “We pushed the ball hard and were strong on defense. Katelyn Kelley really stepped it up on the court by contributing eight rebounds. Danielle Moran added five rebounds and two steals.”
The eight-grade B-Team Lady Mules scored 20 of their 29 points in the second half to defeat the B-Team Lady Cats 29-7. Anzley Rodriguez and Delores Ayala scored 10 points each to lead the Lady Mules. Prisila Medina chipped in six points.
“This was a strong team effort by the eighth-grade B-Team Lady Mules,” continued King. Anzley Rodriguez had a strong offensive and defensive game. She had five rebounds and six steals. She led this team to victory.”
“Camila Platas was a tough defensive force for us. She had four defensive rebounds and two blocks. What a wonderful way to start our season.”
The Lady Mules hosted the Idalou Lady Cats Monday night and will go on the road to Dimmitt to face the Bobbies November 21.
