7th Mules @ District Track Meet (4-9-2015)

The seventh grade District 2-3A Track Meet championship was not determined until the finish of the 4x400-meter relay. The Mules were just off the pace and fell just three points behind the Shallowater Mustangs for the team gold. 

The Mules finished the meet with 186.5 points and Shallowater had 189.5 points. Littlefield, Friona, Dimmitt and Tulia were all well off the pace.

Hector Arras and Jesus Montiel got the Mules off to a fast start by taking both the gold and silver medals with heights of nine feet even and 08-00 in the pole vault respectively. 

Beto Mendoza kept the Mules in front by taking the gold medal in the 2400-meter run with a time of nine minutes and 09.88 seconds. Matthew Fullen ran a bronze medal time of 9:32.76 in the same race.  
Aaron Vinzor and Matthew Alarcon placed fourth and fifth in the high jump by both clearing 04-06. Eddie Vasquez had a gold medal toss of 35-10.50 in the shot put and Fernando Rivas won the silver medal with a heave of 34-07.00. 

Arras had a silver medal leap of 15-05.00 in the long jump. Jose Cardenas hopped, skipped and jumped to a bronze medal in the triple jump with a distance of 31-08.25 and Damain Juarez placed sixth with a distance of 30-02.50.

The 4x100-meter relay team of Alarcon, Cardenas, Arras and Juarez finished .01 second behind Shallowater. The Mules had a bronze medal time of 51.79. Elio Sanchez and Ricky Diaz won the gold and silver medals in the 800-meter run with times of 2:40.41 and 2:41.56 respectively. 

Ozzy Nunez ran a bronze medal time of 21.91 in the 110-meter hurdles. Cardenas and Cristian Bustillos placed fourth and fifth in the 100-meter dash with times of 13.11 and 13.20 respectively. 

Venzor, Bustillos, Montiel and Cardenas teamed up for fourth place in the 4x200-meter relay with a time of 1:53.62. Juarez ran a gold medal time of 59.72 in the 400-meter dash and Arras placed fourth with a 1:03.72. Montiel won the gold medal in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 50.02.

Alarcon earned the silver medal in the 200-meter dash with a 26.09. Mendoza ran a gold medal time of 5:44.96 in the 1600-meter run and Diaz earned the bronze medal with a 5:45.62. 

The 4x400-meter relay team of Arras, Montiel, Alarcon and Juarez ran a silver medal time of 4:12.78.
