8th Mules @ District Track Meet (4-9-2015)

The eighth grade Mule track team ran away with the District 2-3A Track meet with 211 points. The Mules was held on the Shallowater track. Shallowater, Tulia, Littlefield, Friona and Dimmitt all trailed the Mules. 

Ean Hasley set the Mule win in motion by winning the gold medal in the pole vault with a height of nine feet six inches. Edwardo Pantoja earned the bronze medal in the first race of the day. He ran a time of nine minutes and 3.75 second in the 2400-meter run. Jose Nava placed fourth in the 2400 with a time of 9:07.56.

Jorge Albarran got the Mules back in the gold by clearing 5-05 in the high jump to win the gold medal by five inches. Israel Vasquez was just out of the medals in fourth place in the high jump with a leap of 4-10.

Ryan Rodriguez and Leonel Camarena had tosses of 37-00 and 34-3.50 for fourth and fifth places respectively. Yoel Reyes and Rodriguez placed fourth and fifth in the long jump with leaps of 17-05 and 16-01 respectively. 

Brenden Mehl had a gold medal throw of 115-02 in the discus. Mathew Olivas and Rigo Mendoza placed fourth and fifth in the discus with throws of 99-10 and 93-07 respectively. Moises Vasquez hopped, skipped and jumped his way to the silver medal in the triple jump with a distance of 37-09.50. Jacob DeLeon placed fourth in the triple jump with a distance of 34-05.00.

The 4x100-meter relay team of Rodriguez, Izaiah Hurtado, Mehl and Albarran combined for a silver medal time of 48.14. M. Vasquez and Nick Dominguez placed fourth and fifth in the 800-meter run with times of 2:31.59 and 2:34.36 respectively. 

Hasley won the silver medal in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 18.68. J. DeLeon and Corbin Hardwick placed fifth and sixth in the 110-meter hurdles with times of 19.96 and 20.50 respectively. Reyes top with winner’s platform with a gold medal time of 11.39 in the 100-meter dash.

The 4x200-meter relay team of Rodriguez, Luke Del Toro, Hurtado and Albarran won the silver medal with a time of 1:43.18. Reyes climbed to the top of winner’s stand with a gold medal time of 55.59 in the 400-meter dash. Rocky Martinez won the bronze medal in the 400-meter dash and Matthew DeLeon placed sixth with a 1:03.84. 

Mehl won the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 45.59. Hasley and J. DeLeon placed fourth and sixth in the 300-meter hurdles with times of 50.37 and 51.97 respectively. Albarran took the silver medal in the 200-meter dash with a 25.84 and Del Toro earned the bronze medal in a time of 26.12.

Pantoja won the silver medal in the 1600-meter run with a time of 5:36.99 and Nava finished fourth with a 5:59.69. The Mules had already won the team gold before the 4x400-meter relay took place. But the team of Reyes, Vasquez, Rodriguez and Mehl put the cherry on top by running a gold medal time of 3:49.05.
