Lady Mules vs Dimmitt & Littlefield (4-13&18-2015)

The Lady Mule bounced back this week. The week started and ended with big wins over Dimmitt and Littlefield. The Lady Mules improved to 4-1 in District 2-3A with only one game remaining in the regular season.  

The Bobbies of Dimmitt scored two runs in the first inning and one in the third but could not keep pace with the Lady Mules. The Lady Mules defeated the Bobbies 21-3. 

The Lady Cats of Littlefield did a little better and scored once in the fourth inning and four runs in the fifth inning. The Cats needed eight runs when the fifth inning started to extend the game but fell short. The Lady Mules defeated Littlefield 18-5 in an early-morning four and a half inning affair.
The Lady Mules hit the road Monday and traveled to Dimmitt.   

Adrianna Loya hit a ground-ball single through the hole. It was the second pitch of the game. A. Loya stole her way around the bases to score the first run of the game for the Lady Mules. Sasha Esparza walked and Miranda De Bruin slammed a home run over the centerfield fence. 

Gabi Chavez walked and Victoria Villalobos singled to left field. Reagan Reynolds walked to load the bases. Brittany Mendoza doubled off the fence in leftfield to score Chavez, Villalobos and Reynolds. The Lady Mules had built a six run lead after just one-half inning. 

Dimmitt managed to put two on the board with a single and a walk. The runs scored on a sacrifice fly and a sacrifice bunt. 

Mireya Ruvalcaba singled to left field and Esparza doubled. Leti Loya singled to centerfield to score both Ruvalcaba and Esparza. Villalobos singled to score L. Loya. The Lady Mules had increased their lead to 9-2 after two innings. 

A. Loya was hit by a pitch to start the third inning and Ruvalcaba singled to center. Esparza walked to load the bases. De Bruin bounced her hit off the left field fence to bring home Ruvalcaba and Esparza.
 L. Loya ripped a three-RBI line-drive homerun over the left field fence. Chavez walked and an error allowed Villalobos to reach first base. A wild pitch moved up the runners and Mendoza brought them across the plate with a double to left centerfield. Mendoza scored on a sacrifice fly to centerfield by Ruvalcaba. 

The Lady Mules led 17-2 after three innings. The Lady Mules added three more runs in the fourth inning and one in the fifth for the win.
De Bruin gave up three hits, walked five Bobbies and struck out three. The Lady Mules slammed two home runs, accumulated 16 hits, 12 hits, struck out twice, left nine on base and committed no errors.    
The Lady Cats requested to play at 9:00 AM Saturday morning since it was prom night at Littlefield High School. The Lady Mules accommodated a bit more than the Lady Cats and end the game after just four and a half innings. 

Reagan Reynolds moved under a high fly ball to centerfield and watched the ball fall into her glove for the first out Saturday morning. De Bruin struck out the next batter and a ground ball to Mendoza at second ended the inning the top half of the first inning. 

Fifteen Lady Mules went to the plate in the bottom of the first inning and five walked, one was hit by a pitch and six hit singles. The Lady Mules scored 11 runs to jump in front 11-0. 

A. Loya walked to lead off the bottom of the first inning. Ruvalcaba and L. Loya drew a walk. A. Loya scored on a sacrifice fly by De Bruin and Ruvalcaba scored on a throwing error. L. Loya scored on a passed ball. 

Chavez and Felicity Sena both singled. Reynolds singled to left to bring Chavez home. Mendoza was hit by a pitch to load the base. Crystal Flores walked to score Sena. A. Loya also walked to score Reynolds. Ruvalcaba singled to score both Mendoza and Flores. 

Mendoza went to second on a passed ball and scored on a single to up the middle by De Bruin. De Bruin went to second on the throw home. Chavez drove in De Bruin with a single. The Lady Mules led 11-0 after one inning. 

De Bruin ripped a single passed the third baseman to lead off the bottom of the third inning. Chavez singled up the middle. Sena hit a high fly ball to left fielder and she could not hang on to the ball. De Bruin scored on the error. 

Mendoza singled to left field to load the bases. Flores lined a singled to right field to score Chavez. A. Loya sent a ground ball to the shortstop and the ball tied the shortstop’s hands and A. Loya was safe at first. Sena scored on the error. 

The Lady Mules scored three insurance runs in the bottom of the fourth inning. L. Loya tripled to centerfield and scored on a wild pitch. Chavez walked and Sena hit a fly ball to left. The ball bounced out of the left fielder’s glove and Chavez went to third. Reynolds fly ball to left sacrificed home Chavez. 

Mendoza was hit by a pitch and Flores singled to left to bring Sena home and end the Lady Mule scoring. 

A base hit gave the Cats a baserunner in the top of the fifth inning. De Bruin struck out the next batter swinging and the third batter went down on a called strike. A walk put runners at the corners. A single scored two runs and that Lady Cat scored on a single. De Bruin ended the Lady Cat threat to extend the game by throwing three consecutive strikes. 

The Lady Mules traveled to Shallowater to play the league leading Fillies Tuesday to end the regular season.
