8th Mules vs. Littlefield (1-11-2016)
The eighth grade Mules made put up a battle in the second and fourth periods Monday afternoon attempting to over take the Littlefield Wildcats. But the Mules had failed to score in the opening period and the 14 point first period hole was to deep for the Mules to climb out.
Littlefield defeated the Mules 39-25.
The Mules, Damian Juarez, sank a 3-pointer from the corner to start the second period. Kelan Florez grabbed an offensive rebound and put it back up and in the hoop. Eddie Vasquez sank a trey from the corner to halt a seven-point run by the Wildcats. The Mules trailed 25-8 at the half.
Juarez went coast-to-coast for the Mules only third period points and the Mules fell behind 33-10 to start the final quarter.
Juarez started the final period with a drive down the floor for a hoop. Derek Barron drove the baseline and made a reverse lay up. Barron fed Juarez racing down the baseline for a hoop.
Juarez led a fast break for a hoop before Jose Cardenas made a free throw. Juarez made a free throw before Cardenas sank a 3-pointer from the top of the key. Vasquez made the final two points of the game.
The Mules hosted the Friona Braves Monday night and then will travel to Tulia January 25 to play the Hornets. The Mules return home January 28-30 to host the Muleshoe Invitational Tournament.
