Lady Mules vs. Dimmitt & Littlefield (1-12 & 15-2016)

The Lady Mules lost two district games this past by a total of only four points to drop to 0-3 in district. Tuesday night in Dimmitt the Lady Mules trailed the Bobbies most of the 32 minutes and lost the night 35-34.

Friday evening the Lady Mules hosted the Littlefield Lady Cats and were trailing 34-25 when the final period began. The Lady Mules outscored Littlefield 22-15 and lost the game 50-47. Sadie Sudduth scored 11 of her team high 14 points in the final quarter.

Sydnie Sudduth scored first for the Lady Mules in Dimmitt near the 5:30 mark and Conley Niblett scored the next points with a move in the paint with just five seconds left in the first period. The Bobbies led 6-4 in the low scoring game.

The second period was a 10-10 dead heat with Sy. Sudduth making two hoops. Brittney Mendoza drained a 3-pointer from the wing. Sa. Sudduth made two free throws and Emily Precure made one free throw. Dimmitt was leading 16-14 at the half.

Reagan Reynolds tied the game at 16-16 as the third period began by putting back an offensive rebound for a hoop. Sy. Sudduth made a driving lay up and Sa. Sudduth hit from the baseline and from the elbow. Dimmitt out scored the Lady Mules 12-8 to take a 28-22 lead with eight minutes left to play in the game.

Sy. Sudduth got the Lady Mules started on a feed from Sa. Sudduth. Syrena Lara sank her third 3-pointer of the second half and then made a steal and drove for a lay up that would prove to be the difference in the game.

Sa. Sudduth finished a fast break and made four-of-four free throws in the final period. Niblett made a pair of free throws and hit from the elbow.

Sa. Sudduth led the Lady Mules with 12 points and Sy. Sudduth dropped in 10 points. Niblett dropped in six points. Mendoza added three points, Reynolds made two points and Precure chipped in one point.

Littlefield unreeled 21 points in the first quarter to take a 21-9 advantage into the second period. The Lady Cats sank four treys in the first eight minutes and Kaylee Edgemon controlled the paint to lead the Lady Cats with seven points in the opening period.

Sy. Sudduth made the first two baskets for the Lady Mules in the second quarter. She finished the period with a free throw for five points in the quarter. Niblett made two free throws and Sa. Sudduth sank the Lady Mules first 3-pointer of the game. The Lady Mules had cut the Littlefield lead by two points to trail 29-19 at the half.

Precure got the second half started for the Lady Mules with a 15-foot baseline jumper. Reynolds made a pair of free throws and took a half-court pass from Sa. Sudduth for a fast break hoop. The Lady Mules had trimmed the Littlefield lead to nine points with eight minutes left to play.

The Lady Mules trailed 34-25 as the final period began. Edgemon scored for the Lady Cats to start the final period. Fifteen seconds later Sa. Sudduth scored her first of four hoops and dropped in a trey.

Niblett scored in the paint and dropped in a 3-pointer from the top of the key. Precure hit a trey from the corner in the final 90 seconds and Sy. Sudduth made a 3-pointer with just 30 seconds left in the game. The Lady Mules just came up a bit short.

Sa. Sudduth led the Lady Mules with 14 points that included two treys. Sy. Sudduth added 11 points that included one 3-pointer. Niblett finished with eight points that involved one hoop, three free throws and one 3-pointer.

Precure dropped in seven points, Reynolds had four points, Mendoza made two points and Yvonne Diaz chipped in one point.

The Lady Mules hosted the Friona Squaws Tuesday and the will travel to Tulia Friday January 22. The game in Tulia will wrap up the first round of district for the Lady Mule
