Lady Mules vs. Tulia (2-9-2016)

The Lady Mules appeared to be a team preparing for the post season Tuesday night when the Tulia Hornets came to town. The Lady Mules pounced on the Hornets 20-8 in the first period and that carried over to a 17-11 second quarter for a 37-19 lead at the intermission.

Despite the large lead the Lady Mules did not relax or lose their focus and continued to pour it on the Hornets for a 71-35 win.

Reagan Reynolds put back an offensive rebound for the Lady Mules first points of the game. Conley Niblett drove the lane and had to battle her way through a foul for a lay up. Niblett converted the free throw for an old-fashion three-point play.

Sadie Sudduth finished a fast break before draining back-to-back 3-pointers. Yvonne Diaz was fouled shooting in the lane and made both free throws. Brittney Mendoza found the range from behind the arc for a trey just before the first period ended. The Lady Mules led 20-8.

Sa. Sudduth opened the second period with a 3-pointer from the wing. Sydnie Sudduth struck from behind the arc and then added a pair of free throws. Emily Precure was fouled while shooting and made both shots from the charity line.

Niblett made five-of-six free throws in the second period and Jasmine Garza made one from the line. Sasha Esparza sank one free throw before the half ended with the Lady Mules leading 37-19.

Precure opened the second half with a 3-pointer from the wing. Diaz scored in the paint and was fouled. She converted the free throw. Niblett worked her way down the paint to score. She later converted a free throw.

Hallie Myatt scored from 12 feet. Sa. Sudduth drove for a hoop and later finished a fast break. The Lady Mules led 52-27 with one period left to play.

Sy. Sudduth sank a trey from the top of the key to start the final period. Precure made a pair of free throws and sank a trey on an inside-out pass from Niblett. She finished a fast break for her final hoop.

Desi Gutierrez made a pair of free throws. Niblett scored a pair of hoops on assists from Precure and Reynolds. Garza nailed a 3-pointer to close out the game for the Lady Mules.

Sa. Sudduth and Niblett paced the Lady Mules with 15 points each. Sa. Sudduth made three treys and Niblett was seven-of-nine from the free throw line. Precure finished with 12 points and Sy. Sudduth made two treys and eight points.

Diaz added five points, Reynolds and Garza dropped in four points each. Mendoza had a trey for three points. Gutierrez and Myatt added two points each and Esparza chipped in one point.

The Lady Mules opened the post season in West Texas A&M’s Field House Monday evening against the District I Class 3-A Champion Amarillo Highland Park Lady Hornets.
